CHORD PROGRESSIONS

Now that you’ve learned about chords, let’s learn how to play them together to form songs.

Recall the “Circle of Fifths” diagram.

Circle of Fifths

The Circle of Fifths can be a helpful guide to aide you in learning different chord progressions.  Many songs can be played following this chord progression pattern.

So, how does it work???

If you notice in the Circle of Fifths diagram, the C note progresses clockwise to the G note.  Beginning with the C note and counting up 5 notes on the C scale you will end up on the G key.

Counting up 5 from G on the G scale, you will end up on the D note.
