Here is the order in which flat notes are played.


Notice that C♭
is the same key as “B”. It follows the same rules as E♯.
Let’s say we want to know how many flats are in the key of E♭.
Beginning with the C note and using the
Interval 2 method, we
know that the key of E♭has 3
flats. Using the Hop Scotch
method, we know that if the key has 3 flats they
must be:
B♭,
(down to) E♭,
