Hop Scotch Method

Notice the pattern that the sharps are played in.

Piano18.jpg

It hops from F down to C, up to G, down to D, up to A and finally down to E.

I refer to this as the “Hop Scotch Method”.

Using this new pattern method, determine how many sharps are in the key of G.

What are they?

You can use the Interval 2 method to easily figure out that the key of A has 3 sharps.  Using the Hop Scotch method, we know that if there are only 3 sharps in this key they must be:

F, (down to) C, (up to) G
